In the UK, the vast majority of people live in urban areas. As a result, millions have very limited access to green spaces and the important physical, emotional and environmental benefits they bring. Almost 40% of people of colour in the UK live in the most green-space deprived areas, compared to just 14% of white people.
Charities like Wild in the City, do incredibly important work increasing participation with nature by people of colour. Their core programmes look at training nature guides and connectors, sharing black nature narratives and researching the impact of race and racism on our relationship with nature. To support their work, It's Freezing in LA! magazine has teamed up with illustrator Joanna Blémont to produce a new t-shirt celebrating the work of WITC, with the group receiving 100% of profits.
The t-shirts are 100% organic cotton, carbon neutral and vegan, with the pre-sale process eliminating wasted items in production. The t-shirts are from a FairWear company.
