Getting Buff for Hospitality Action
This is a project I started while still working in hospitality as a restaurant sommelier.
We all know how difficult it is trying to keep a healthy body and mind as a restaurant worker, with constant access to booze and indulgent food. So I felt like I needed a bigger fitness project for extra motivation to get healthy. Now that I’m no longer actively service, I’d like to use this as a platform to raise money for Hospitality Action instead. As well as raising money around my first bodybuilding competition in June, I have also launched the 'Santé' t-shirt, with 100% of profits going to the charity.
Eviction rates are soaring, disproportionately affecting precarious hospitality workers, wages aren’t keeping up with cost of living, and this has an obvious knock on effect on addiction mental stress and physical health. HA are doing a lot of the vital work of helping people actually survive while the current government couldn’t care less.
Wine can be glamorous and fun, but a lot of the good people that get those bottles to your table are struggling.
