My favorite shapes: normal stuff, objects
and trinkets and things.
Some living, some dead, some never alive in the first place.
I count them all up in my head: Crayon
Fried egg.
Tangerine slice.
I line them up in my mind, these shapes, and suddenly, the world doesn’t seem so hostile anymore. So inhabitable by a body like mine.
But my body is my body: just another shape.
My body fits in this world, despite what people try to say about it: incongruent, wrong, confusing, mistifying, concealing.
It fits: crooked, lumpy, slender, round, sharp. Strong and warm.
Willfully shaped into something new - sharing in the divine act of creation.
Not a weapon, not an abomination:
just ordinary shapes, mixed and matched together.
