The Net of Wonder
The ocean invokes feelings of fear and wonder at the same time. It is full of mystery and secrets, its depths largely unexplored by humankind. But even in the deepest point in the ocean, a grocery store plastic bag can be found.
The artwork is a still life made with things I picked up from a beach: some shells, a plastic spoon and a piece of net, created for World Ocean Day, to urge everyone to work towards preserving and protecting our ocean.
Vartika Sharma is a collage artist and illustrator based in New Delhi, India. Inspired by surrealism and symbolism, she creates emotive images through her stark, mostly monotoned compositions.
