Our 2018 1st Birthday T-Shirt is back due to so many requests! Thankyou for redrawing this for us @LaikEcola.
We are relaunching this shirt to celebrate the 1st Birthday of STAR Refuge, London's only LGBTIQ+ Domestic Abuse Refuge. The Outside Project opened STAR Refuge in June 2020 in response to the pandemic and the gap in services for specialist crisis housing for our community.
STAR Refuge was named to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of STAR House, the BIPOC, Trans, Sex Worker led LGBTIQ+ Homeless Shelter founded by Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P Johnson when they were just 19 and 25 years old.
Funding from this shirt will support STAR Lounge in our LGBTIQ+ Centre. STAR Lounge: A calm and safe environment to connect with yourself and other survivors of domestic abuse and feel supported in your recovery and wellbeing. All genders welcome. As we did in 2018, 50% of profits from this shirt will go to African Rainbow Family (ARF) - a 'non-for-profit charitable organisation that supports LGBTIQ+ people of African heritage and the wider BAME groups.
ARF was established in 2014 by a lesbian in the wake of some commonwealth countries in Africa's toxic and draconian anti-gay laws; persecutions and environment which seek to criminalise LGBTIQ+ people for the preference of whom they choose to love.'
