'Every Garden Counts' by Grace Keeler

I chose to support Friends of the Earth as they work on issues regarding the protection of the Environment and Nature.
I often feel I am not doing enough for the environment as I am not actively involved in planning Environmental marches or boycotting big corporations that negatively affect Climate Change.
My design depicts a simple urban garden and character interacting and helping the garden to grow. The design is intended to be subtle and relatable to city dwellers. The message I hope to get across is that small things can make a difference and that everyone can easily help to be more environmentally conscious. I’ve used muted colours to make the point in a less pressurising way.
My goal was to create a T-Shirt that positively encourages us to take care of our earth within our own living situations. I also wanted to create a design that I would feel comfortable wearing on a daily basis and hopefully make others smile.
I based the design on my dad’s small London garden, where he grows roses and a variety of herbs like rosemary and sage for my mum to cook with. It would not win any awards at the Chelsea Garden Show, but I feel encouraged seeing people like my dad making efforts to be eco-friendly. From my bedroom window I often see birds, squirrels and a pair of robins hang out in the garden.
