This T-shirt is part of the ‘Nudibranch’ exhibition by Coco Lom at The Book Club in Shoreditch, London. The exhibition is inspired by Nudibranchs, more commonly known as sea slugs. These luminous molluscs are famous for their psychedelic shapes and patterns, which feature on the backs of these T-shirts.
The exhibition runs until 30th August and is sponsored by environmentally-caring beer company Estrella Damm.
T-shirts are EarthPositive® and are ethically made using sustainable energy. 10% of T-shirt profits will go to support the marine charity, Ocean Conservation Trust.
‘Nearly three quarters of the earth is covered by ocean, producing the majority of the oxygen that keeps us alive. It’s the last great unexplored wilderness, home to countless creatures, including the wonderful world of Nudibranchs.
Some no bigger than your fingernail, others 12 inches long, they laze in shallow tropical waters, protecting themselves from their predators with their dazzling displays of poison-tinted patterns. They are miniature marine kaleidoscopes, soft in body but bold in colour.
As we come up for air after lockdown, I’d like to celebrate our colourful friends of the sea, their spots and stripes and luminous ripples - their curious, glorious ‘sluggishness’. I hope they will bring you joy and remind you of the importance of loving your softness and taking care of our precious oceans.’
