Unique design with a powerful message! The image featured in The Big Issue No. 1271 August 28 - September 3, 2017. 'Momentum made by you' is a mantra, taken on by young people profiled in our photography exhibition. It represents them taking their lives into their own hands and combating the stigma and prejudice associated with having gone through the care system. This photo is part of a series of portraits produced for an exclusive exhibition curated by Drive Forward Foundation. Based on the experiences of young care leavers in London, the exhibition explores the relationship between place & identity. This particular image shows a young mother of two, whose relationship with the borough of Kensington has changed over time. From being a place associated with traumatic experiences, it is now a place of community, and the home she wants to see her children grow up in. #ThisIsMe - care leavers, identity & sense of place runs from 11-17 September at the Waterloo Action Centre.
