Wingkei is a digital artist who is unapologetic about celebrating Women’s bodies through bold and confident colours. As an intersection of being a Woman, and being of colour whilst living in the Western world, Wingkei is also an advocate for uplifting marginalised voices and supporting what she knows is just.
This t-shirt was designed as a response to Anti-Asian violence. The text graphic "Life is short, call out a racist" highlights the need for solidarity and true allyship. In reference to the orchid flower graphics, Wingkei says these were her mother's favourite flowers and that they are also symbolic in Chinese culture as a whole. Wingkei tells us that "orchids can live with loneliness, yet look graceful and content from the outside" and relates this with her own feelings towards white silence in East Asian issues.
10% of production costs will be donated towards "End the Virus of Racism" - a UK non-profit working dedicated to addressing Asian racism and supporting the ESEA communities.
