Jewish papercutting is a folk art once done by many Jewish communities that has largely been lost due to the Holocaust. I'm a Jewish artist and this design was my first papercut and contribution to reviving the art. It's a mizrah, used by Jews in their homes to indicate the direction of prayer, which is toward Jerusalem. When I hang this mizrah and look to the east, or wear these garments with the mizrah design, it will serve as a reminder that 'Never Again' means never again for anyone, including the Palestinian people in Gaza in desperate need of aid and a ceasefire. For more of my work, I'm @hamotzi on Instagram/Tumblr, and @sammysavos on Twitter!
