In the wake of the US funding withdrawal from the World Health Organization (WHO), WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus stated, "COVID-19 does not discriminate between rich nations and poor, large nations and small. It does not discriminate between nationalities, ethnicities or ideologies."
I believe, this very idea in and of itself, should be enough food for thought, for us to understand the gravity of the unprecedented times, we live in. As a gesture of solidarity, Urvashi is using one of her artworks to fundraise for the WHO.
The product is a 100% combed organic cotton unisex fashion t-shirt. The garment is ethically made and manufactured using sustainable energy in the UK. The artwork used was inspired by a Sudanese refugee woman with an infant, at the border of Ethiopia and Sudan. Same as last year, Urvashi's original artwork will be on display at Artbox Project Zurich 2.0 to be held in Zurich, Switzerland, from August 20 to 24, 2020, during SWISS ART EXPO in the venerable SBB Event Hall at Zurich Main Station. With 80,000 visitors daily, the SBB Event Hall is one of the most visited places in Switzerland.
100% of the proceeds from sales will be donated via Wear Social Platform to the WHO COVID-19 Response Fund.
As death toll rises, the reality, that a human being's identity is not merely tied to a number or some numbing statistics, has never been clearer than today. This is what this campaign is about. I hope we can step up together!
